Welcome to SquareDisc Radio, the below paragraphs give you a brief idea of who we are, what we do and what we intend to do. If you have a few moments, read on!
From early beginnings...
SquareDisc has been a constant evolution through the years, and the current manifestation is the third of the life cycle. The idea for a site was hatched by Fax with his own personal site from Blueyonder way back in the year 2000. The site was used primarily to store family photographs and served as an interesting test idea before the next one came along. It wasn't long before a concept idea called www.andlee.com was thought of. Although it was very basic in it's design, it was the site that united Fax and Oshoryu in creative, fun web-designing but still keeping that edge of 'out-there-ness'.
The Next Step...
Encouraged by www.andlee.com but frustrated at the limits of Blueyonder, it was time to go for it. The basic idea had been there from the start, now it would become a reality and www.zehrkool.co.uk was launched in the summer of 2003. Zehrkool was created to bring unsigned electronic music (IDM style) to people's minds. The site started off as pages then moved into an easier to manage and easier to update Forum style. It never really took off, even with the addition of owning a Direct Connect ++ hub the site never really impacted the way we had hoped. We put this down to the name more than anything and decided to go for new image. That image became SquareDisc.
"So what's this one about then?"
www.sd-radio.co.uk was designed to house all the radio streaming we do. Internet Radio is fast becoming the thing that has put SquareDisc on the internet map. We currently run 3 dedicated servers (2 colocation). SquareDisc life started off on Counter-Strike 1.6 (as it always does) and in just a short period of time the Clan had grown from 7 members to nearly 30 members (www.sd-gaming.co.uk), most of which are regular players and eager to become our new resident DJ's. If you are interested in joining the SquareDisc Radio DJ's then please let us know you are interested. We are looking particularly for people who are willing to use and be part of our IRC Community and more importantly, willing to DJ on a regular basis. See us online for an interview!
The Future
Who can tell where we are heading, but be assured we are going to keep on growing until we explode :-)
